어제는 무료 어플이 쏟아졌다. 총 88개다. 글을 쓰면서 너무 많아 포기할 생각까지 들었다. 그러나 하루 동안 올라온 양이 많기는 하지만 역시 추수감사절만^[1]은 못한 듯하다. 그리고 오늘. 오늘은 가격이 변한 제품이 4개, 이 중 무료는 하나가 올라왔다. '300불에서 무료'로 바뀌었지만 300불의 가치가 있는 어플은 아니다. 전형적으로 가격으로 장난을 치는 어플이다. 오늘만 무료 어플로도 이미 두번 소개한 어플이기도 하다. 바로 Goal2Action이다.

이렇게 하나의 어플만 올리려고 하니 조금 서운하다. 그래서 오늘만 무료인 어플은 아니지만 유용한 무료 어플 다섯개를 소개할까 한다. 먼저 RunKeeper라는 어플이 있다. Free와 Pro가 있으며 Pro는 무려 10불이나 하는 어플이다. 그러나 Free도 기본적인 기능은 제공하므로 Free를 사용해도 괜찮다. 이 어플은 아이폰의 GPS를 이용해서 운동 궤적을 추적, 분석해 주는 어플이다. 이 어플을 켜고 달리기를 하면 다음 그림처럼 자신의 운동 경로를 아이폰과 웹에서 확인할 수 있다.

12월 23일 오후 6시~9시의 궤적

음주님과 충주 청어진에서 동태 술국을 먹을 때 궤적이다. 어플을 시험하기 위해 사무실에서 어플을 켰고 전자랜드 근처의 청어진에서 술을 마시며 어플을 껐다. 따라서 여기서 끝나야 하지만 엉뚱하게 충주 세무서에서 끝난 것으로 되어 있다. 또 연수동 우체국 근처의 빨간 깃대 부근에서 음주님과 간단히 이야기하며 헤어졌는데 이 위치는 아주 정확하게 잡아 냈다. 아울러 속도와 높이까지 측정된 것을 알 수 있다.

두번째로 소개할 어플은 가격이 바뀐 어플을 찾아 주는 어플이다. 이런 어플로 유명세를 얻은 어플은 AppSniper가 있다. 그러나 이 어플은 비슷한 기능을 하는 무료 어플이 등장함으로서 앱 스토어(App Store)에서 사라졌다. AppSniper 대신에 무료이며 가격이 변한 어플을 찾아 주는 어플은 내가 아는 것만 해도 총 세가지다. 예전에 트위터를 통해 소개한 BargainBin, PandoraBox와 AppMiner이다. 세가지 모두 가격이 변한 어플, 무료로 바뀐 어플을 아이폰을 통해 찾을 수 있다.

이 세가지 어플 중 기능과 인터페이스면에서 가장 높은 점수를 줄 수 있는 어플은 BargainBin이다. BargainBin은 원하는 어플과 이 어플의 할인가를 설정해 두면 푸시 기능을 이용해서 알려 주기 때문에 특정 어플이 할인됐을 때 구입하려는 사람에게 상당히 유용하다^[2]. 나 역시 이 기능 때문에 BargainBin만 사용하고 있다. 다만 이들 어플을 사용할 때 주의할 점은 이 어플로 찾는 무료 어플은 오늘만 무료인 어플은 아니라는 점이다.

오늘만 무료인 어플도 있고 계속 무료인 어플도 있다. 말 그대로 이 어플들은 가격이 변한 어플을 알려 줄 뿐 오늘만 무료인지 아닌지는 어플에서 판단할 수 없다. 따라서 이 어플들이 있지만 오늘만 무료인 어플이나 무료는 아니라고 해도 할인된 어플을 찾기 위해 매일 가격이 변한 어플을 웹에서 확인해서 정리하고 있다. 또 이렇게 정리한 어플을 오늘만 무료로 올리고 있는 셈이다.

마지막으로 소개할 어플은 iDraw Dialer이다. 트루미디어에서 나온 TRUE.Dialer를 사용하면 우리나라 휴대폰에서 사용하는 것과 비슷한 단축 다이얼을 사용할 수 있다. iDraw Dialer도 비슷한 어플이다. 다만 차이가 있다면 단축 번호를 할당하는 것이 아니라 전화번호에 그림을 할당하고 그 그림을 그리면 해당 번호로 전화할 수 있는 다이얼러다. 번호를 외우는 것 보다는 그림을 외우는 것이 기억에 더 오래 가기 때문에 사람에 따라서는 번호를 할당하는 단축 다이얼 보다 유용할 수 있다.

참고로 이런 소식을 조금 더 빨리 알고 싶다면 트위터 가이드를 읽고 팔로하기 바란다. 트위터로는 글을 통해 소개하기 힘든 100명 한정, 한시간만 무료와 같을 어플도 올리기 때문이다.
