먼저 소개할 어플은 PDF Expert다. 이름에서 알 수 있듯이 PDF를 볼 수 있는 어플이다. 앱 스토어(App Store)에 PDF를 볼 수 있는 어플은 상당히 많다. 각자 나름대로 장단점이 있다. 그중 PDF Expert는 깔끔한 UI와 빠른 보기 속도가 장점이다. UI가 직관적이기 때문에 사용하기 상당히 편하다. 아울러 바로 노트를 쓰는 것도 가능하다. 여기에 드롭박스(Drobox), 슈가싱크등등 유명한 클라우드 서비스를 지원한다. 이 때문에 PDF Expert가 무료로 풀린 것을 트위터에 소개하자 ‏@SQzzz님은 다음과 같은 트윗을 달았다.

제 아이패드의 8할을 차지하는 어플인데 무료로 풀렸군요 아하하 기쁘고도 슬픈 이 기분 ㅎㅎ

다만 가격이 좀 비싸다. PDF 보기 어플로 나름대로 넓은 사용자층을 가진 굿리더(GoodReader)도 5불이기 때문이다. 그런데 이렇게 좋은 어플이 오늘 무료로 풀렸다. 설치하려는 사람은 다음 링크를 클릭해서 설치하기 바란다.

Smart Office

두번째로 소개할 어플은 스마트 오피스(Smart Office)다. 스마트 오피스는 이름에서 알 수 있듯이 아이폰에서 사용할 수 있는 오피스 어플이다. 즉, 마이크로소프트 오피스 문서(Microsoft Office Document)를 보고 만들 수 있는 어플이다. 기본적으로 드롭박스(Dropbox)와 구글 닥스(Google Docs)와 같은 클라우드 서비스를 지원한다. 또 애플의 에어프린트(AirPrint)도 지원한다. 또 강점으로 내세우고 있는 부분 중 하나는 "문서를 편집한 뒤 데이터의 손실없이 원본 형식으로 저장한다"는 점이다. 아울러 기기 공통(Universal Apps)이라 아이폰(iPhone), 아이패드(iPad) 모두 사용할 수 있다. 또 지원하는 문서 형식도 상당히 다양하다. 1997년 이후에 출시된 모든 MS 오피스 문서, 어도비의 PDF, JPEG, PNG, GIF와 같은 이미지, 벡터 파일인 WMF, EMF 파일 보기도 지원한다.

스마트 오피스(Smart Office)를 실행해 보면 알 수 있지만 UI가 조금 독특하다. 일단 실행하면 다음 그림과 같은 초기 화면이 뜬다. 그런데 초기 화면만 보면 오피스 어플로 생각하기 좀 힘들다. 여기서 탐색기를 터치하면 드롭박스, 구글 닥스와 같은 클라우드 서비스가 표시된다. 원하는 클라우드 서비스를 선택해서 저장된 문서를 읽어올 수도 있고 반대로 저장할 수도 있다. 스마트 오피스를 설치하려는 사람은 다음 링크를 클릭하기 바란다. 참고로 이 어플은 평상시 10불, 현재 무료로 풀린 상태다.

• Smart Office 2 받기

House Plans Center

세번째로 소개할 어플은 하우스 플랜 센터(House Plans Center)다. 이 어플은 조금 특이한 어플이다. 이름에서 알 수 있듯이 자신만의 집을 지을 사람에게 꽤 괜찮은 어플이다. 약 2만개 정도의 집 설계도와 사진이 포함되어 있다. 슬라이드쇼 모드, 슈퍼 줌등을 지원하기 때문에 설계도에 따른 집의 모습을 상당히 자세히 볼 수 있다. 이 어플 역시 공통 어플이다. 따라서 아이폰, 아이패드 모두 사용할 수 있다. 다만 파일 크기가 좀 크다. 1.84G나 된다. 따라서 외국망이 아주 느린 SK브로드밴드라고 하면 받는 것을 포기해야 할 수도 있다.

이 어플은 꼭 집을 지을 사람에게만 필요한 어플은 아니라고 생각한다. 모르긴 해도 건축하는 사람이라면 상당히 괜찮은 어플이다. 내려받을 사람은 다음 링크를 클릭하기 바란다. 참고로 이 어플은 평상시 4불, 현재 무료로 풀린 상태다.

• House Plan Center 받기

QuickOffice

네번째로 소개할 어플은 퀵오피스(QuickOffice)라는 어플이다. 또 미리 주의를 주지만 이 어플은 무료 어플이 아니라 1불인 유료 어플이다. 다만 이 어플은 평상시 15불에 판매되던 어플이다. 따라서 1불에 구입해서 보기 어플로만 사용해도 1불 가치는 충분히 하는 셈이다. 다른 오피스 어플과 마찬가지로 MS 오피스 파일의 보기 및 편집을 지원한다. 이 어플은 슈가싱크(SugarSync), 드롭박스, 구글 닥스, 박스넷(Box.net), 허들을 지원한다. 따라서 오피스 어플 중에는 가장 많은 클라우드 서비스를 지원하는 어플이 아닌가 싶다.

참고로 아이패드용은 1불이 아니라 5불에 할인 판매하고 있다. 다만 얼마 전 구글(Google)에서 이 어플을 인수했다. 따라서 지금은 1불이라고 해도 장기적으로는 무료가 될 가능성도 있다. 지금까지 구글은 유료로 판매되는 좋은 어플을 사서 무료로 푸는 일을 계속해 왔기 때문이다. 마찬가지로 1불에 구매할 사람은 다음 링크를 클릭하면 된다.

• Quickoffice® Pro 구입

MobileRSS

마지막으로 소개할 어플은 MobileRSS다. 이 어플은 RSS 리더 어플 중 내가 최고로 평가한 어플이었다. 또 앱 스토어의 평가도 상당히 좋았다. 그런데 'iOS 5'가 등장하며 대응 판올림을 하지 않았다. 즉, 작년 4월 부터 지금까지 판올림이 없었다. 이렇다 보니 여러가지 문제가 발생했다. 이런 문제들 중 사람들이 가장 문제를 삼은 부분은 글을 읽는 중 엉뚱한 사이트로 리다이렉션 되는 문제였다. 이 덕에 최고의 평가를 받았던 MobileRSS는 먹튀 어플로 최악의 평가를 받았다. 이렇다 보니 개발자가 지난 6월 잠시 이 어플을 무료로 풀었다. 그리고 오늘 버그를 잡은 새로운 어플이 나왔다.

다만 이 어플은 무료가 아니다. 3불에 판매되는 유료 어플이다. 그러나 판올림만 잘된다면 3불이 전혀 아깝지 않은 어플이다. 따라서 구매할 사람은 구매하기 바란다. 아울러 여기서 소개하는 것은 구매하라는 뜻 보다는 트위터에서 알린 것처럼 구매한 사람의 판올림을 돕기위한 것이다.
